The Yamaha MT‑15 V2 strikes a bold tone at first glance. Its multi-functional LED headlight gives it a sharp “street-fighter” face, while the beefy tank holds strong between the rider’s thighs for a planted feel during sharp braking or cornering. The split-seat rear section elevates the bike’s agility, making lane-splitting through city traffic feel more intuitive. The styling manages to blend aggressive looks with everyday practicality.
Engine & Performance
Under the hood lies a 155 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder unit featuring Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology. It delivers around 18.4 PS of power at 10,000 rpm and 14.1 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm in the Indian spec. What that means for you: quick get-aways in city traffic, smooth roll-on as you open the throttle on an open road, and the benefit of an assist & slipper clutch to reduce rear-wheel hop under braking or down-shifts. It strikes a strong balance between everyday commute and spirited rides.
Frame, Suspension & Brakes
The chassis is derived from Yamaha’s “Deltabox” style frame—strong yet nimble. Suspension comprises a set-up designed for both comfort and control: an upside-down front fork and a mono-shock at the rear (depending on region), giving you confidence while leaning into corners and stability over rough surfaces. For braking, dual-channel ABS paired with front and rear disc brakes ensures you have good stopping power in wet, dry or dusty road conditions.
Features & Technology
Inside the cockpit you’ll find a fully digital instrument console showing speed, rpm, gear-position and more. In certain variants you also get smartphone connectivity via Yamaha’s Y-Connect app: call/message alerts, ride history, service reminders and even the last parked location can be accessed. The inclusion of modern tech in a 150-cc bike class is a strong positive.
Dimensions & Mileage
The MT-15 V2 has a fuel tank capacity of 10 litres and a kerb weight of around 141 kg. In real-world conditions it manages roughly 45-50 km/l (some owners report up to ~56 km/l) which makes for a usable everyday commuter. The seat height is approximately 810 mm, and the ground clearance about 170 mm in India.
Variants & Price (India)
In India you’ll find it in at least two main trims: a standard version and a deluxe version with more tech/colour options. The ex-showroom price falls in the ballpark of ₹1.69 lakh onwards for the standard variant, and around ₹1.80 lakh for the deluxe, depending on the city and tax.
Riding Experience & Comfort
With wide handlebars and an upright yet sporty riding posture, the MT-15 V2 is comfortable in city traffic and confident on open roads. The throttle and clutch feel well-calibrated for daily use. On rough surfaces the sport-oriented suspension may feel a bit firm, especially in the sportier settings, but you’ll benefit from better feedback and stability when pushing a little harder. The pillion seat is adequate for shorter rides, though longer rides with a passenger might highlight its limitations.
